Getting Started

What is QuoteMaster?

QuoteMaster is a Google Sheets add-on built specifically for tradespeople. It turns a standard spreadsheet into a complete business management tool, letting you create professional quotes and invoices, manage clients, send documents via WhatsApp or email, schedule jobs in Google Calendar, and track your revenue, all without leaving Google Sheets.

How do I install QuoteMaster?

Install QuoteMaster from the Google Workspace Marketplace. Once installed, open a Google Sheet, click Extensions in the top menu, and select QuoteMaster. From there, follow the setup steps to create your workspace. Full instructions are in the documentation.

Do I need a Google Workspace account?

No. A free personal Google account works perfectly. QuoteMaster integrates with Google Sheets, Drive, Calendar, and Forms, all of which are available on a standard Google account. No paid Google subscription required.

How long does setup take?

Install the add-on, create a new Google Sheet, open QuoteMaster from the Extensions menu, and it generates all the tabs and structure automatically. Fill in your business details, logo, and pricing and you're ready to start quoting. Building out your services, products, and areas databases takes a bit longer but you can do it at your own pace as you go.

Can I import my existing client and product data?

Yes. Each database (clients, services, products, and areas) has a Bulk Import feature. Paste in data from an existing spreadsheet or CSV and it loads in seconds. This makes switching from Excel or another system straightforward.

Billing & Trials

How much does QuoteMaster cost?

QuoteMaster is £15/month or £149/year (saving you £31 compared to monthly). Both plans include every feature with no restrictions. See the pricing page for full details.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new subscription includes a 30-day free trial with full access to all features. Your trial is applied automatically at checkout, no promo code needed. You won't be charged until the trial ends.

Do I need to enter payment details for the trial?

Yes, a card is required to start the trial. This is standard practice to prevent abuse. You will not be charged during the 30-day period, and you can cancel anytime before the trial ends with no charge.

How do I cancel?

Go to Manage Subscription, enter your email, and you'll be taken to the Stripe billing portal where you can cancel in a couple of clicks. There are no cancellation fees. If you cancel during your trial, you won't be charged at all.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your data stays in your own Google Drive and belongs entirely to you. Cancelling your subscription does not delete anything. Your spreadsheet and all records remain accessible. You simply lose access to the QuoteMaster add-on features.

Can I switch between monthly and annual?

Yes. You can switch plans at any time through the Stripe billing portal. If you switch to annual mid-cycle, the remaining value of your monthly plan will be credited.

Do you offer refunds?

Refunds aren't offered for partial billing periods, but you can try QuoteMaster completely free for 30 days before any payment is taken.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards are accepted, plus Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Link. Payment is handled securely through Stripe and your card details are never stored on QuoteMaster's servers.

Does QuoteMaster handle VAT?

Yes. Set your VAT rate in the Settings tab and QuoteMaster applies it automatically to all estimates and invoices. VAT totals are broken out clearly on documents and in the Revenue Dashboard, making it easy to report to your accountant.

Can I use my own branding on quotes and invoices?

Yes. Upload your logo in the Customisation tab and it will appear on every quote and invoice you generate. You can also set your business name, address, and contact details to appear on all documents.

How does the WhatsApp integration work?

When you generate a quote or invoice, QuoteMaster pre-fills a WhatsApp message with the client's name, job details, and a reference to the document. One click opens WhatsApp with everything ready to send. The PDF is saved to Google Drive so you can attach it manually or share the Drive link.

What if I accidentally delete a sheet?

No problem. Use Sheet Installer in the Settings tab to regenerate all QuoteMaster sheets instantly. Google Drive's built-in version history also lets you roll back to any previous state of your spreadsheet.

Can I add multiple services to a single quote?

Yes. In the Estimate Generator you can add as many service rows as you need. The sidebar has buttons to add, remove, and duplicate rows quickly without touching the spreadsheet manually. Each row supports its own service description, materials, labour rate, and quantity.

How does the revenue dashboard work?

The Revenue Dashboard gives you a real-time overview of your business, including total revenue, outstanding invoices, profit margins, and VAT all in one place. You can filter by day, week, month, year, or tax year, and export reports as a Google Spreadsheet, PDF, or CSV for your accountant.

Technical & Security

What devices does QuoteMaster work on?

QuoteMaster runs in your browser via Google Sheets, so it works on any desktop or laptop (Windows, Mac, or Chromebook) as long as you have an internet connection. No software to install beyond the add-on from the Marketplace.

Does it work on mobile?

Generating quotes and invoices requires a desktop or laptop browser. The QuoteMaster sidebar doesn't load in the Google Sheets mobile app. That said, your phone is still a big part of the workflow. Google Calendar and Google Drive both work perfectly on mobile, so you can check your jobs for the day, pull up a client's address, navigate straight to the job, or open any document on the go. The phone handles the out-and-about side. The desktop handles the document side.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All your business data is stored in your own Google Drive and is subject to Google's enterprise-grade security. QuoteMaster never stores your business data on external servers. It stays entirely within your Google account and is only accessible by you.

What permissions does QuoteMaster need?

When you first run QuoteMaster, Google will ask you to grant access to a few services. QuoteMaster only ever accesses what it creates or what you explicitly action. It needs access to Google Sheets (to read and write your data), Google Drive (to save PDFs), Gmail (to send emails), and Google Calendar (to schedule jobs). It never accesses files outside your QuoteMaster spreadsheet.

Does QuoteMaster work offline?

QuoteMaster requires an internet connection to validate your subscription and to use features like PDF generation and sending via WhatsApp or email. You can view and manually edit your spreadsheet data offline, but add-on features won't be available until you're back online.

Can multiple people use the same QuoteMaster spreadsheet?

QuoteMaster is designed for sole traders. One Google account links to one subscription, so each person who needs to use it needs their own.
